Spring 2006 Site Reskin and new Homepage - Urban Outfitters

Finally the shell catches up with the content. Oh, and we changed the logo three days ago. After trying to make the Catalog logo fit in the reskinned nav, we gave up and tried a custom solution. One of the perks of having a seasonal "sensibility", rather than a fixed identity. Looks MUCH better now.

I art directed it and designed the homepage content / Damien Correll designed the UI / Mike Perry did the radd logo.

Gateway Shoot - UrbanOutfitters.com

A two-day shoot specifically for the UO website, photographed digitally on a shoestring budget on the hottest days of August 2005. A run 'n' gun, no permit guerilla operation with a $10,000 camera and a broken radio slave. This was the last of the small shoots for UO, and one of the most fun for me. A close-knit team of friends, total control over the work, and a whole lot of love all around.

I art directed it with Mike Perry / Jaime Demarco shot it / Barbara Botting styled it / Shelly Zander, Victoria Mason, and James Stone wore it well.

Early Fall 2005 Catalog - Urban Outfitters

A big fat book, shot on a train between LA and SF, in Montreal, and points inbetween, by some of the most talented people i've ever had the privilege to work with. This book was an ambitious attempt to reduce the amount of "flat" off-figure photography, and to ramp up the storytelling. An exhausting creative victory, a bitch for the budget, and yet the positive impact on the brand continues to pay us back today. It reminds everyone that Catalog success needs to be measured in metrics that transcend comp sales figures. For a company that does no other advertising, it's critical to get the image right.

I provided conceptual and creative direction / National Forest art directed it / Angela Boatwright shot it / Christine Baker styled it / Corrine Vegter did hair and makeup.

Web Product photos - Urban Outfitters

A few of the thousands of product shots that show up on the web each year. No one has any idea of the work that goes into making this happen. A website will never have the heft of a Catalog. At least not for the short term...

I art directed / Barbara Botting also art directed and styled everything.
