Ride On, Ride On

Another Type Experiment

Of the thin and squiggly sort. The one on the left is a modified version of and old VGC face called Aase, if i remember correctly. Nice open letterforms that were begging to be messed with.

Malwitz Surfboards (spec logos)

So, the really nice thing about taking a sabbatical from work is that you can indulge otherwise unimaginable pursuits like, for instance, spending a few hours obsessively brush-penning mockups for a great guy in Philly who's giving away a surfboard in exchange for a logo. The funniest part is that I never knew him when i lived there. Apparently it took heading across the Atlantic and trolling the web to spawn such opportunities.

Spot Illustrations

A few enhanced sketchbook selections, submitted for Mike Perry's soon-to-be-published hand lettering book.

Motion Of The Ocean

A quick type experiment. Not finished yet, but done enough to share.

Tasty / Bored

Couple more unprinted tee shirt graphics. Some latent type stuff in here as well. Maybe I should build out the complete character sets.

Talltype

I drew a few letters, liked them, and rolled with it.

Hand Stencil

Did this one by hand, from memory. A sloppy version of a 70s classic.

Anything and Everything

Some type-based spot graphics.

Naturally Curly

How it usually begins -- a page torn from the notebook. A doodle in a boring meeting.

Blocktype

A byproduct of the pixeltype explosion a few years back. This one has a few built-in quirks.

Human Error

Another pixely typeface. It's easy to lose entire days just nudging little squares around in Illiustrator.

Slop Type

Always wanted to make this face -- characters are drawn as tiny as possible without losing legibility, then scanned up at ridiculous res.

Courier Gothic ?

Utterly unfinished and an absolute mess, but I still think there's a good concept in here somewhere. Even if it's bragging rights over a "stencil typewriter blackletter" hybrid. If anyone wants to pick up where I left off, be my guest.
